SunLab : Information
The SunLab is one of the CSE Department's Public Computer Labs located on the first floor of Packard Lab in Room 122. Its primary function is to provide a standard Linux environment for use by classes. The lab also sees much use for research projects, both by individuals and graduate labs.
Remote access via SSH is available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. In the rare event that all machines in the lab are to be shut down, either individually or collectively, notice is posted in the login messages, typically a few days in advance.
Use of the Lehigh University VPN is required for SSH Access if connecting from off-campus locations. Documentation for use of the Lehigh VPN is available here.
Please review the 'Success in CS' CourseSite page for additional information and documentation regarding various aspects of lab use, including the basics of how to utilize SSH.
Machines in the lab are part of a local authentication domain operated by the CSE and ECE departments, and are not part of the LTS authentication domain used across most of the campus. User accounts are created for students who take courses that require access to these machines. Students majoring in a degree program in the CSE or ECE department will be provided an account upon request. Student accounts use LU login names, even though authentication information (e.g. your password) is not shared with the main LU authentation system (or vice versa).
The current status of lab resources can be found through the links at the left.
